New Year's Resolutions for 2011...

What will your New Year's resolution be for 2011?  Wikipedia defines New Year's Resolution as "a commitment that an individual makes to a project or the reforming of a habit, often a lifestyle change that is generally interpreted as advantageous."

It is time for parents/guardians of children with a disability to take time out of their busy lives and reflect about themselves, their children, their family, and the commitments they want to make in 2011 to become effective advocates for their child with a disability.  What changes do you need to make in order to be an effective advocate? Or maybe you made positive changes that you need to stick to in the new year, how will you do that? What do you need to do for yourself, so that you don't burn out? How will get respite if you need it?  How are your communication skills with the school district? Perhaps you want to join a club? Or have your child join a club? Spend more family time together?

It's not easy being a parent and when you have a child with special needs it can be even more challenging.  Take a few minutes and think about a New Year's Resolution that will help you and your family to enhance your quality of life.  Please post your New Year's Resolution, no matter what it is, myself and the other reader's will enjoy hearing your thoughts!

Wishing you all a very Happy and Healthy New Year!!!
